Staff are celebrating a significant day in the Waterperry calendar - July 7th would have been the 110th Birthday of Beatrix Havergal - founder of the famous School of Horticulture for Ladies.
Miss H as she was known established the school in 1932, giving women the first opportunity to try a career in something other than nursing or secretarial.
For the next forty years she taught hundreds of women the principles of horticulture - with many going on to become gardeners in some of the best gardens in the country.
Legend has it the one hundred foot long border at Waterperry - designed by Miss H - reaches one of its many peaks on this date - so if you haven't paid a visit to the gardens for a while - today could be the day to do it!
