The most attractive and graceful selection of alder, with deep finely cut leaves and lovely purple spring catkins, followed by ornamental cones, very popular with the birds. Stunning yellow autumn colours. Will tolerate almost any soil condition except shallow chalk. Vigoruous and easy to grow, thriving even in waterlogged soil. Responds well to coppicing and heavy pruning at any stage. Height and spread in 10 years 6m x 4m.
