A classic clematis variety that was lost to cultivation until recently. Covered from midsummer to early autumn with rich red flowers with pale pink undersides. Its compact nature makes it an excellent choice for container growing, as well as the front of the border. Moist but well-drained soil in dappled shade or full sun. Height 3m.
