Horticultural Trainee

Waterperry Gardens is looking for a horticultural trainee to learn about the cultivation and propagation of Alpine plants focusing on Saxifraga. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with an interest in Alpine plants. Waterperry Gardens holds two plant heritage National collections, Saxifraga Section Ligulatae and Section Porophyllum. This is an unpaid post and offers an unparalleled opportunity to become an expert in this fascinating group of mountain plants.

Gallery Assistant, Saturdays

Do you have a keen interest in Arts and Crafts and enjoy meeting the public? We are currently looking for a new gallery assistant to join our small team to work on Saturdays throughout the year. The gallery is housed in a beautiful barn, exhibiting high quality work by artists both local and further afield. The job is varied with a small amount of admin and general daily duties but primarily meeting our visitors and introducing them to the work of our makers. Some knowledge of creative processes and retail or hospitality experience would be of great benefit. There will be opportunities to swap the occasional day and potentially pick up extras for holiday cover etc. The gallery opens 10-5 in the winter and till 5.30 in the summer. This role is available from September.

Rural Museum Volunteer

Are you passionate about history, heritage, and sharing stories with others?
The Museum at Waterperry Gardens is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our team.

We are seeking people who can be flexible with their days, supporting the museum with welcoming visitors, answering questions, and helping us preserve and share the fascinating history of Waterperry.

What you’ll be doing (11am – 3pm):
• Greeting visitors and providing a warm, friendly welcome
• Assisting with general museum duties and visitor enquiries
• Helping maintain a tidy and inviting space for guests
• Supporting occasional events and activities within the museum

What we’re looking for:
• Enthusiastic and approachable individuals
• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn
• Flexibility to volunteer on different days as needed
• An interest in heritage, history, or museums (experience not essential – full guidance provided)

• Volunteering hours: 11am – 3pm
