Whilst you are enjoying the gardens, or perhaps elsewhere in the grounds at Waterperry you are most likely to come across a great variety of wildlife, depending on the season and time of day.

Mammals:

Muntjac and Roe deer, Hares, Rabbits, Voles, Woodmice, Harvest Mice, Moles, Stoats, Weasels, Otter, Mink, Water Voles, Foxes and Badgers.

Amphibians:

Grass Snakes, Frogs and Toads

Insects:

Numerous, including Stag beetles, Ladybirds, Hover Flies, Cockchafers, Dragonflies, Damsel Flies, Brimstone, Mayflies, and several types of Butterfly.

Aquatics:

Signal Crayfish, Pike, Stickleback, Tench, Roach.

Birds:

All year: Barn owl, Blackbird, Blue tit, Bullfinch, Buzzard, Canada Goose, Chaffinch, Coal tit, Collared dove, Cormorant, Crow, Curlew, Dunnock, Goldcrest, Goldfinch, Great spotted woodpecker, Great tit, Green woodpecker, Greenfinch, Grey heron, Grey partridge, Grey wagtail, House sparrow, Jackdaw, Jay, Kestrel, Kingfisher, Lapwing, Little egret, Little owl, Long-tailed tit, Magpie, Mallard, Marshtit, Mistle thrush, Moorhen, Mute swan, Nuthatch, Pheasant, Pied wagtail, Raven, Red kite, Red-legged partiridge, Ring-necked parakeet, Robin, Rook, Song thrush, Sparrowhawk, Starling, Stock dove, Tawney owl, Tree creeper, Wood pigeon and Wren.
